Origins
I didn’t grow up surrounded by screens. I grew up surrounded by people who made things.
I remember watching my grandfather sit quietly, knitting lobster traps by hand. I would eat my cereal at my uncle’s table while he carved beautiful fiddles from the trees he cut in his own backyard. My mother and grandmother spent hours weaving at the Gaelic College, their hands moving with patience and purpose.
Where I come from, creating wasn’t a hobby. It was how people showed care. It was how they provided. It was how they stayed connected to one another.
What I remember most isn’t the things I was given.
It’s the time that was shared.
The memories we created together outlasted any gift I ever received, and each person who took the time to teach me, support me, or create alongside me holds a special place in my heart. They were the people who helped me do something meaningful.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something else.
We need more people willing to create those moments.
More leaders. More relationship builders.
More people willing to prompt others to put the screens down and sit beside one another again.
When I began dreaming about what I would create, I wasn’t thinking about a product. I was thinking about legacy.
I wanted to build something that would help people come together. Something that would give people the chance to be the one who makes the moment happen. Whether by sitting down beside someone to create, or by placing that opportunity into someone else’s hands.
That’s what It's a Date Night was built to be.
Not just a box.
Not just an activity.
But an invitation to create something beautiful.
An opportunity to lead with intention.
And a way to build memories that last longer than anything you could buy.
